It is interesting that the פרשה starts after a פרשיה סתומה. This is connected to the previous פרשיה and should not be learned on it’s own. It is a continuation of what precedes it.
So starting with the last פרשיה of the previous פרשה, we are with משה on הר סיני where he is receiving the לוחות הברית. In our פרשה he comes down, gathers בני ישראל and says
אֵלֶּה, הַדְּבָרִים,
אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה
יְהוָה
and then
שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים, תֵּעָשֶׂה
מְלָאכָה,
וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי יִהְיֶה
לָכֶם
קֹדֶשׁ
שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן,
לַיהוָה;
This is the essence of the second connection, the second communication. And this is what is communicated.
It seems that in the first quote that his intention is to bring a list, which would connect this פרשיה with the following.
The next פרשיה all of the necessary elements of the משכן are collected. The raw materials and the people that know how to work them.
This פרשיה shows that there are 2 types of giving – those that give material elements and those that give spiritual elements. The giving of both originates in the heart.
משה has to turn to both types of giving from the heart in order to create the משכן.
Two people stood out in their talents.
בְּצַלְאֵל
בֶּן-אוּרִי
בֶן-חוּר,
לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה
and
וְאָהֳלִיאָב
בֶּן-אֲחִיסָמָךְ
לְמַטֵּה-דָן
Perhaps each had their strengths – although it seems clear that בְּצַלְאֵל has the vision.
At a certain point, there was more than enough to supply all of the needs of the משכן and משה requested that they stop bringing.
The above concludes as a פרשה סתומה and then the משכן is formed.
